Here’s a write good chance to scoop kids’ book contest prize

THE next J.K. Rowling could be discovered in Monklands as locals are encouraged to get creative for a national children’s writing competition.

The Academy of Children’s Writers’ ‘Write a Story for Children Competition’ is recognised as one of the most prestigious prizes for unpublished writers of kids’ books.

Over 2000 entries were received for this year’s event and organisers are anticipating even more for next year, the 25th anniversary of the competition.

The first prize is a cheque for £2000, with second and third prizes of £300 and £200 respectively.

Entrants must be over 18 years old and unpublished. Self-published entrants are allowed and the closing date for entries is March 31, 2010.
