Sturgeon unveils 'help for carers'

The SNP has set out a range of measures aimed at helping Scotland's unpaid carers, including continuing to fund 10,000 weeks of respite provision over the next five years.

SNP deputy leader and Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon set out the SNP's commitments to carers in the party's upcoming manifesto.

Visiting the Princess Royal Trust Glasgow South East Carers Centre, Ms Sturgeon unveiled the party's pledges which include extending the Energy Assistance package to carers, an extra £2 million for short breaks for families with severely disabled children, establishing the Caring for Carers Employers kitemark for employers who offer support and flexibility and an annual "Carer's parliament" for access to MSPs and ministers.
