Boat sinking inquiry adjourned

An inquiry into the sinking of a fishing boat almost 36 years ago that claimed the lives of seven men on board has been adjourned.

The hearing into the loss of the Peterhead-based trawler Trident off Caithness in 1974 was due to resume on Monday after an adjournment of several months, but legal discussions resulted in the hearing in the City Chambers in Aberdeen being adjourned.

The inquiry heard further work was needed in response to documents lodged by the new legal team representing the families of the men who died, a spokeswoman for the Advocate General said.
