A soldier has pledged to walk 500 miles to raise money and send his daughter to a school for blind children.
Mac McGearey will begin the first phase of his journey, from Edinburgh to Falkirk, on Saturday morning and he plans to make ten journeys in a month, taking him to the Cairngorms and Inverness.
The money raised will pay for his daughter Ciara to attend the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh. The 13-year-old caught meningitis when she was three-days-old, leaving her blind and unable to speak.
