Removal of rescue boat condemned

The lack of a locally-based rescue boat caused a "significant" delay in the search for four anglers whose boat sank in a loch, a politician has claimed.

Oban councillor Roddy McCuish questioned why a rescue vessel was withdrawn from the town's fire station around a year ago.

William Carty, 47, and Craig Currie, 30, died after their boat sank on Loch Awe, Argyll, as they made their way back from a pub in the early hours of Saturday.
