Tourism boss backs £4m website cost

The boss of tourism agency VisitScotland has defended a decision to spend almost £4 million on its accommodation booking website.

MSPs are investigating the way money was spent to take on shareholder debt and write off loans to secure the model for VisitScotland.com - the booking arm of the organisation.

Chief executive Philip Riddle told Holyrood`s Public Audit Committee the decision led to a "good return" and success for the company.
