Man (24) in hospital after road accident

A 24-YEAR-OLD Airdrie man, who leapt over a safety barrier and into the path of an oncoming van, is recovering in hospital suffering from head injuries.

The incident happened on Carlisle Road last Wednesday at 5.15pm.

The victim was crossing the road near Craigneuk Avenue when he was struck by a Renault Kangoo van.

He was taken to Monklands General Hospital suffering from head injuries.

The van driver was uninjured, although left badly shaken.

Police are continuing enquiries and witnesses should contact Constable Graeme Henderson on 01698 483124.
