Ex-military man who threatened to kill woman is put on probation

A FORMER military man who threatened to kill a woman while her child was in the same house was placed on probation for 15 months.

David Fraser’s solicitor told Airdrie Sheriff Court that he has had “problems in adjusting to civilian life” since being medically discharged.

The 37-year-old first offender pleaded guilty to threatening to kill the woman, placing her in a state of fear, alarm and distress and uttering threats of violence at the property in Salsburgh’s Muirhead Gardens.

He also admitted behaving in a disorderly manner, shouting, swearing and committing a breach of the peace in the incident on the evening of March 7.

Fiscal depute Peter Reid said: “He shouted, swore and threatened to kill her and police were contacted.”

Defending Fraser, of Hazeldean Crescent in Wishaw, his solicitor said: “He has mental health difficulties and sought some help and the conclusion was reached he may be suffering from combat stress but he doesn’t use that as an excuse.”
