Salsburgh duo receive awards from Bishop

SALSBURGH friends Bernard Carroll (83) and Johnny Burns (82) received their Bene Merenti award from Bishop Joseph Devine in the Sacred Heart Church.

The duo have been stalwarts of the St Vincent de Paul organisation in the church for a combined total of over 100 years.

The Bene Merenti is a Papal Honour instituted in 1832 by Pope Gregory XVI to reward, on an exceptional basis, those who have given ‘long and exemplary service’ to the Catholic Church.
