The sky’s the limit for a Coatbridge College dance student who stepped up to the challenge of touring the country with the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland.
Lauren Main is delighted to be passing on her dancing skills such as tap, ballet, jazz and contemporary to young people as she returns from another tour of workshops.
Lauren is currently in the first year of her HND Professional Stage Dance course at Coatbridge College and was successful at auditions to become part of the company, which works with young people to introduce them to dance.
Following intensive choreography sessions with a trained professional, Lauren teaches her own workshops, utilising the skills she is currently developing on her HND course.
Lauren said: “I want to work for a London dance company next year so this project is a great experience for me.
“My course is preparing me to be a well rounded performer and has a variety of subjects and lecturers to challenge and develop my skills.
“I’m looking forward to our college performances to further enhance my performance ability.”
College staff are excited by Lauren’s development in the dancing field and feel she can achieve great things.
Graham Carr, curriculum leader for performing arts, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Lauren.
“She is an extremely hard working and talented performer and this experience will develop her skill set even further.”
