A LOVERS’ tiff escalated and ended with a woman being punched and kicked repeatedly on the head and body.
Anne Marie Reynolds (41) of Nordick Crescent, Blantyre, carried out the assault on her female partner at an address in Whinhall Avenue, Airdrie.
The incident occurred on November 14 last year following a row between the two women.
Procurator fiscal-depute Neil Martin told Airdrie Sheriff Court: “They had spent the evening in a pub in South Bridge Street and were in good spirits but on arriving at the locus a disagreement broke out.
“The accused punched the complainer on the head, causing her to fall to the ground, she then punched her on the head and body several times.”
The court was told that the police were called to attend and when cautioned, Reynolds replied: “It was only a daft argument and I admit that I did punch her and kick her two or three times.”
Reynolds’ defence agent told the court that his client had been remanded in custody for more than two weeks following the incident.
She had been on bail at the time the offence was committed.
Reynolds had failed to appear for an earlier court hearing on October 27 last year and was fined £270.
Her partner was in court to hear Sheriff Robert Dickson say: “Given the time that you have already spent in custody on the assault charge I will impose a community payback order for 18 months.”
