Man exposed himself to women – and cops

Airdrie Sheriff Court

A TEENAGER exposed himself and threatened to rape two women in Coatbridge town centre, a court heard.

Scott Maschinksy (19) shouted sexually explicit remarks and chased one of the women and a man during a bizarre series of incidents on March 5.

He also exposed his genitals to police officers who came to arrest him.

At an earlier court appearance, Maschinsky pleaded guilty to three charges relating to his actions that day.

The outrageous behaviour started in Main Street where he exposed his genitals in a “sexual manner with the intention they [the women and the man] would see them”.

He admitted to acting in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause the three members of the public to suffer fear or alarm.

The Advertiser has chosen not to name the victims whose addresses were given as care of Coatbridge Police Office.

Maschinsky, of Ledi Path, Motherwell, continued in a similar vein towards two police officers in Whittington Street.

He exposed his genitals with the “intention that they would see them” and shouted “sexual remarks” at the two officers who, again, we have chosen not to name.

He pleaded not guilty to two other charges which involved resisting arrest and smearing excrement on a cell wall. His pleas on both these charges were accepted by the crown.

Maschinsky was placed on a community payback order on April 13 and was due to have a review hearing last Wednesday to assess his progress on the order.

But the accused was absent when his name was called and the case was adjourned.

After referring to a report by Maschinsky’s supervising officer on his performance while on the court order, Sheriff Alf Vannet felt a personal appearance was necessary.

Maschinsky is now due to appear for a review hearing on Tuesday, November 22.
