Johann wins Caldervale High endeavour award

JOHANN Craigon is the winner of this year’s Doctor John Reid award for endeavour at Caldervale High.

She was presented with the prize by the Airdrie and Shotts MP when he paid a visit to the Towers Road school.

Fifth-year student Johann was selected by teachers to receive the prestigious shield for her work as a school prefect, with younger pupils and at St Andrew’s Hospice.

Dr Reid said: “I am told that when Caldervale High staff were asked to nominate a recipient, every one of Johann’s teachers put her name forward because of her hard work and approach to her studies.

“She is a school prefect and has contributed extensively to the school’s efforts to support young pupils making the transition from primary to secondary.

“Johann has also made a significant contribution in helping St Andrew’s Hospice and is a credit to her school, her family, but most of all to herself.”

After presenting Johann with her award, Dr Reid then went on to take part in a question-and-answer session with pupils following modern studies and politics courses.
