A COATBRIDGE single mum showed she’s on the right track in the music business by reaching number one – while bringing up two kids.
DJ and singer Jean Honeymoon has reached the top spot in digital music download listings run by iTunes.
The talented mum’s song, titled Bang Bang (Lazy Hammock Chillout Remix), is included on hit Sony Music CD Bar Lounge Classics.
And Jean (44) hopes her success can act as an inspiration to other single parents in her home town.
She said: “When I heard that my song was going to be included in the CD and released by a label like Sony I was absolutely over the moon.
“It is a major label so people take you more seriously and hopefully it will open a few more doors.s
“When it then got to number one I was ecstatic beyond words.
“I am in my 40s and have come into this quite late. I have two children and it can be quite a juggling act finding time to write and record my music.
“It’s not easy and I have had to give up one or two things.
“But being a single parent means there are times when I don’t have my children and that’s when I get on with the music.
“Hopefully, what I am doing can give some encouragement to others.”
Jean, whose real surname is McClure, is now set to release her own EP, featuring other tracks she helped write.
Titled Bang Bang Remix it will be released on German label Diventa Music at the end of January.
Jean’s music career goes back to the 80s when she started fronting The Honeymooners.
Last month she DJ’d in Paris and is planning a tour of France with a group of French DJs called Soap Orchestra.
But before then Jean is looking forward to the festive season with daughters Nina (14) and Jena (10).
