Dec 9 2009 Airdrie & Coatbridge
A BOOZED-UP thug assaulted three women after returning home from an all-night party.
Gary Wilson (22) and his girlfriend got involved in a blazing argument at 6.30am and he was asked to leave the address in Whifflet Street, Coatbridge.
But Wilson, of Ettrick Court, also Coatbridge, told his girlfriend: “You will not f***ing stop me seeing my wean, ya cow.”
The barny was overheard by the girlfriend’s mother and sister who were in the house at the time.
Wilson then slapped his girlfriend and when the other two women tried to intervene, he “pushed both of them on the body”.
Airdrie Sheriff Court was told that Wilson then threatened: “If you phone the police, I’ll kill you.”
Wilson later told cops: “I never punched her, I slapped her.”
An ambulance was called to the address but the girlfriend did not require any medical attention.
Wilson pleaded guilty, at an earlier court hearing, to four offences, which took place on June 27 this year.
He admitted conducting himself in a disorderly manner, shouting and swearing, threatening violence and committing a breach of the peace.
And he admitted three separate charges of assaulting the three women.
Paul Garrett, defending, said: “Alcohol played a great part in this.
“He has underlying problems but this is out of character.
“He admitted straight away to police that he slapped her.
“He didn’t want to put the three ladies through a trial.
“He has a lengthy record but his offending seems to have slowed down in the last few years.”
Mr Garrett added that his client would be “more than happy” to carry out community service.
The lawyer also presented a hand-written letter to the court that was penned by the mother of the complainer on behalf of her two daughters.
The letter was supportive of Wilson.
After reading the letter, Sheriff Frank Pieri said: “The difficulty for you is your record, which makes the offences all the more serious.
“What I have in mind is a period of unpaid work in the community.”
The Sheriff then ordered Wilson to perform 80 hours of community service.
