Taylor Ferguson with Justin and Colin
COATBRIDGE-born celebrity crimper Taylor Ferguson has two good reasons to be glued to his TV screen.
Two of his clients are taking part in one of the most talked about shows of the year.
Interior design gurus Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan headed for the salon before jetting off to Australia to take part in the hit TV show I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. Colin was voted off on Tuesday night, leaving Justin in the jungle with the remaining celebrities.
The duo, who became the first couple to enter the jungle together, had their pre-trip haircuts and some pampering just hours before heading to the airport and the 24-hour flight Down Under.
But their lips were tightly sealed – in line with the confidentiality agreements they'd signed as show contestants.
Taylor said: “The boys are always full of chat and keen to share their work stories with me when I'm cutting their hair.
“But they only said they were heading overseas for a new programme and I assumed they were going back to Canada, where they do a lot of TV work.
“When the news came out that they were jungle-bound we all realised why they'd been a bit quieter than usual.
“We're watching and wishing them all the very best and hope the challenges they're going to face in the jungle won't be too arduous.”
Taylor’s team has looked after a long list of big-name personalities including Suzanne Shaw, Darius, Penny Lancaster, Lulu and Rachel Hunter.
Taylor, who followed his mother Patricia into the family business in Coatbridge before heading to Glasgow more than 30 years ago, has made several TV appearances of his own over his career including one on the BBC's The Weakest Link which helped raise money for the Darlinda Charity for Renal Research at Glasgow's Western Infirmary.
Recently, he took part in the BBC Children In Need fundraising campaign when he was “locked in jail” at the BBC HQ in Glasgow and had to generate pledges of support to win his freedom.
