Fireworks displays will be spectacular

THIS year’s free council bonfire and fireworks display will be kicking off in Airdrie and Coatbridge on Wednesday, November 4.

The Airdrie event will be held at Airdrie Leisure Centre, while Coatbridge residents are invited along to Dunbeth Park.

Bonfires at both events will be lit at 7.15pm with the displays kicking off at 7.30pm and lasting around half an hour.

Hot food vans will be on site to provide warming snacks, but remember to wrap up against the November weather.

“Our fireworks displays are always popular events and we look forward to staging them every year,” said Jim Scullion, events manager with North Lanarkshire Council.

“They’re a great way to enjoy the fun of Guy Fawkes’ Night in a safe and controlled environment.

“In the interests of safety we ask people not to bring their own fireworks or sparklers – the display will be spectacular enough for everyone.”

All children under the age of 12 attending the event should be accompanied by an adult.

Parking in Airdrie is available on Motherwell Street and Waverley Drive, however, there are no parking facilities within Dunbeth Park.
