A COATBRIDGE nurse helped save lives by organising a sponsored cycle and raising the grand total of £1100.
Senior staff nurse Janet Scougall arranged the 13-mile bike ride round the Isle of Cumbrae for herself and 12 colleagues from Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Janet, who is deputy outpatient manager, suggested raising money for the ‘Saving Lives in Glasgow’ appeal run by the British Heart Foundation Scotland, which will place vital defibrillator equipment in public places throughout the city.
She said: “We loved the whole experience and it was a great day out. People out on the route would stop and donate and were very supportive. Raising sponsorship and organising the bike ride wasn’t difficult; it was cycling 13 miles which was the difficult part! I chose this good cause because I like to see where the money goes.
“People are more receptive to local charities. They give sponsorship because they want to see a difference locally.”
