Joanne got a kick out of being in Irn Bru advert

Joanne McCallum

COATBRIDGE College Performing Arts students got a taste of the big time when they appeared in the latest commerical for a Scottish soft drink.

The students took part in secret auditions for the advert with several being selected for their talent in dance and acting.

One student in particular, Joanne McCallum (18), starred as 'high kick girl' and can be seen at the start of the advert attempting a high kick amongst her peers.

Joanne, along with 250 other soft drink fans, gathered at the launch of the new ad in Glasgow.

The advert shows the students performing their own Scottish musical.

Coatbridge College students are among the crowd who join the lead male role as he sings about life at high school. Joanne, who had to prove her talent during auditions earlier this year, was starring as one of the less talented students in the advert – trying and failing to do a high kick – also included was a rubbish breakdancer and science girl who plays a set of test tubes.

Sarah Jane Rothwell, senior lecturer for Performing Arts at Coatbridge College, said: “I'm extremely proud of the students involved in the advert.”
