Postal worker admits stealing mail

A POSTAL worker charged with stealing mail had her sentence deferred after missing a crucial social work appointment – because she did not receive their letter.

Sandra Kenyon had already pleaded guilty to stealing 998 postal packets or similar mail items from Coatbridge delivery office.

The offences took place at Royal Mail’s premises at Coatbank Way for three weeks between October 7 and 28 last year.

Her solicitor told Airdrie Sheriff Court: “She failed to attend the appointment because she didn’t know about it.

“Ironically in light of the charges against her, a letter was sent to her on May 11 but was only delivered on May 26.

Sentence on 32-year-old Kenyon, of Netherwood Avenue, Cumbernauld, was deferred until July 1 to allow for the preparation of the requested reports.
