MALAWI Deputy High Commissioner Flossie Gomile-Chidyaonga visited St Mary's Primary School, Coatbridge, to review the partnership between St Mary's and Lomolo Primary School in Luchenza, Malawi.
One of the partnerships activities is to raise funds for the repair of a borehole well at Lomolo Primary school.
During her visit the Deputy High Commissioner was shown a wall poster showing the amount already raised by pupils at St Mary's for the "St Mary's Wishing Well Appeal for Lomola Primary School".
Lomola Primary school has 2000 children attending with some 450 orphans included in this number.
The borehole will provide water for these 2000 children but also for some 5000 people spread around the local villages.
Access to fresh water is essential in Malawi and the borehole will provide a much-needed resource which will help prevent ill health and the spread of disease.
