Coatbridge man fined £250 for ‘lurking’ in hospital

A COATBRIDGE man was fined after being found lurking suspiciously in the grounds of Monklands Hospital.

Sheriff Duncan Murray imposed the £250 fine on Anthony John Quinn when he appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week.

Quinn was found in the grounds of the Monkscourt Avenue hospital “without lawful authority to be there” on September 18 last year, and sentence on the 43-year-old, of Torriden Court, had been deferred for six months.

Defence solicitor Paul Belardo described the offence as “somewhat unusual”, but noted that: “This is a considerable time that he’s been out of trouble.”

Fining Quinn £250, the sheriff said: “I’m very pleased to hear that you’ve been of good behaviour because had you not, it was going to have been custody to recognise the seriousness of the offence.”
