Reid gives warm welcome to plans to upgrade town hall

LOCAL MP, Dr John Reid, has welcomed the news that Airdrie Town Hall is to benefit from Heritage Lottery Funding.

He said: “This is good news for Airdrie and for all those individuals and groups who make use of the Sir John Wilson Town Hall.

“I know that the £500,000 award made to North Lanarkshire Council by the Lottery will be put to good use and will transform it back into a well-used resource for the local community and beyond to enjoy for years to come.”

While the award does not guarantee future funding, it is usually an indication of positive support .

Dr Reid said the council can progress to a fully-developed Stage Two submission where, if they meet the requirements laid down by the Lottery Fund, they will secure the full grant.
