Former referee Dallas launches NHS smoking ban

FORMER football referee Hugh Dallas showed smoking the red card at Monklands Hospital last week.

The ex-Grade One official visited the Airdrie hospital for the launch of NHS Lanarkshire’s revised smoking ban.

It now prohibits lighting up anywhere on NHS premises, including areas around hospital and clinic entrances, any part of the grounds and in vehicles parked on NHS property.

The previous ban extended only to the inside of buildings and immediately outside.

Smokers will now be issued with red cards carrying information about local smoking cessation services, and permanent signs will be displayed outside Monklands Hospital and other NHS premises to remind visitors about the ban.
