Vicky’s work goes on show in exhibition

CALDERVALE High School pupil Vicky Smith attended the opening night of North Lanarkshire’s Kilbowie Experience, where her jewellery designs were admired by many.

The exhibition showcased artwork resulting from a week-long stay in Kilbowie, Oban, by talented pupils from Monklands secondary schools.

Vicky said: “The Kilbowie Experience was a wonderful opportunity, which I’ll never forget.

“It gave me the chance to learn new techniques, to meet creative pupils from other schools, to work with an established designer and be inspired by the beautiful landscape and colours of Oban.”

Rebecca Harfield from Caldervale High also exhibited work but unfortunately could not attend the opening night.

The event, held in Cumbernauld Town Hall, was attended by Christine Pollock, Head of Learning and Leisure for North Lanarkshire, who was impressed by what she saw.

The exhibition will now travel around a number of Monklands schools, which will give more people the chance to see the creativity and talent of local youngsters.
