Headquarters tour for primary pupils

NORTH Lanarkshire Council’s Depute Provost Jim Robertson welcomed a group of primary seven pupils from St Dominic’s Primary, Airdrie to the council headquarters in Motherwell.

The kids’ visit included a tour of the Civic Centre building where they met council staff, Depute Provost Robertson and local Airdrie Councillors David Fagan and John Love.

The children really enjoyed the opportunity of a question time session with the councillors in the Council Chambers and the chance to see themselves speaking into the microphones on the big screens.

Depute Provost Robertson said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome pupils from St Dominic’s Primary School to our headquarters so they could have the opportunity to learn more about the work carried out by local government and the functions of the council.

“The pupils were very enthusiastic throughout their visit and perhaps in the future we might see some of these pupils themselves helping to shape the politics of the future.”

The kids were accompanied on their visit to the Civic Centre by teacher Miss Gallagher and classroom assistant Terri Cupples.
