THE penultimate stage of the Airdrie, Coatbridge and District Schools Cup takes place tomorrow night (Thursday) when four teams will battle it out for a place in the April 25 final.
Willie Marshall, of Airdrie United Supporters’ Trust who organised the competition, expressed gratitude to all those who helped make the opening stages of event a roaring success so far.
He said: “It was a very successful day and the boys‘ application, team spirit and sportsmanship during the games was apparent to all present.
“Credit must also go to the supporters from the schools and their representatives.”s
Section one saw Airdrie Academy emerge as clear leaders, winning all their games, while Chryston came second on goal difference over both Caldervale and Rosehall in a very close finish which remained undecided until the final whistle of the final game.
Section two proved to be a closer group with St Ambrose claiming the top spot in the final game over St Andrew's, with St Margaret’s and Coatbridge High following on.
The two semi-final games are: Airdrie Academy v St Andrews & St Ambrose v Chryston.
These games will be played at Craigneuk Parks, Airdrie, on Thursday, April 4, and kick off is at 6.30pm. The games will be played over 30 minutes each way with the parks and changing rooms available to the teams from 6pm.
