The Deneros in Battle of the Bands final

COATBRIDGE band The Deneros recently took part in the Scottish final of a “battle of the bands” competition.

The four-piece, all of whom are pupils at St Ambrose High in Coatbridge, played four of their own compositions at the Top of the Class event.

After being asked to take part through their MySpace page, they wowed the Edinburgh crowd by playing Funky Tune, Yesterday, Where Do We Go From Here? and Sophisticated Minds.

The band comprises 17-year-old bassist Daniel Gribben, singer and guitarist Ciaran McEneny and lead guitarist Martin Garrity, both 16, all of whom are fifth-year pupils; and fourth-year drummer Martin Johnston, 15.
