FORMER Christians star Henry Priestman is performing in The Georgian Hotel, Coatbridge, on Friday in one of two Scottish dates on his UK tour.
As the main songwriter with his former band he was responsible for a string of single successes in the 80s and 90s.
Classics such as Forgotten Town, When The Fingers Point and Ideal World were among 10 Top 40 hits.
The Christians sold over three million albums, but eventually Henry decided he wanted to explore other avenues and left the band.
He released his stunning solo album The Chronicles of Modern Life in September 2008 to critical acclaim.
The initial pressing of the album sold out and DJs including Johnny Walker, Terry Wogan and Janice Long heavily played the first single from the album, titled Grey’s The New Blonde.
The national press also seemed to like what they heard with four out five reviews in both The Sun and The Daily Mail.
Henry has now signed to Island Records again – the home of The Christians – and the album has just been re-released.
The new single Don’t You Love Me No More is out on Monday, March 30.
Joining Henry on the tour is the award-winning London-based songwriter Lotte Mullan, who is currently recording her debut album. This is not Lotte’s first visit to The Georgian Hotel as she has previously supported The Mercurymen at the venue.
Tickets are available in person from The Georgian Hotel, on-line at www.intimate-gigs.com or by calling 01236 421888.
