What you think: smoking ban on hospital grounds

THE Advertiser asked some people in Coatbridge what they thought about the decision to ban smoking from the grounds of Monklands Hospital. Here’s what they had to say:

Lea Gribben, of Old Monklands, Coatbridge, said: ‘‘I don’t smoke myself but I think this decision is quite poor and it is taking things too far.’’

Michelle Helly, from Old Monklands, Coatbridge, said: ‘‘I think this is a bad idea. Especially when some folk can get quite low in a hospital and they like to go outside and have a cigarette.’’

Leanne Speirs, from Airdrie, said: ‘‘I used to work at Monklands and you did get patients that smoked in their rooms but there should be a room, or an area, for them to go and smoke.’’

William Stevenson, from Shawhead, Coatbridge, said: ‘‘I think it is a great idea. I am a smoker myself but it is of real benefit to others.’’
