LOCAL runners from Monklands were part of a six-man team who took part in the Isle of Arran relay race recently.
The event saw 24 teams participate and included some of the best road running clubs.
The North Lanarkshire jogscotland squad finished ninth.
Coatbridge’s Alan Cameron was the team’s top performer and clinched seventh position. Billy Carswell was a place behind with Colin McAlpine in 10th.
George Robertson, of Airdrie, ended the day in 12th spot alongside Motherwell’s Pat Mullen and Willie Lyndsay, who hails from Hamilton.
The race was split into six sections with each runner up against another 23.
There were two 10.5-mile and seven-mile sections with an 11.5-mile course and an eight-mile route.
Competitor Billy said: “We would like to thank our team manager Jim Dobbie for his support.”
