RBS WEST DIVISION ONE:
WAYSIDERS/DRUMPELLIER took an early lead at Marress Road but shipped 33 points without reply en route to a fourth league defeat in five games.
Craig Collin’s outfit successfully converted an early penalty but were eventually blown away by the Ayrshire side.
The Langloan men made a bright start with full-back David Power sending his kick between the posts.
But Irvine responded with a try in the 24th minute which was cooly converted by Craig Maxwell to make it 7-3.
Fly-half Danyl Davies was sin-binned to leave the home side a man short for a spell but W/D failed to take advantage.
And on Davies’ return, Irvine scored back-to-back converted tries to take the contest away from the Coatbridge outfit.
Welshman Davies outpaced the W/D defence to cross the line in the 44th minute.
From the kick-off, W/D gave away a penalty which was kicked to touch with Irvine winning the resulting lineout.
The ball was then moved out to captain Kevin Lang who touched down. Maxwell added the extras on both occasions.
In the 54th minute, a difficult task was made harder for W/D when Neil Collin was sin-binned.
Irvine capitalised on the visitors’ misfortune as they bullied their way under the posts for a bonus-point score. Maxwell successfully kicked the conversion.
Davies scored his second try of the afternoon to seal a fine win for Irvine. As for W/D, they will be looking to bounce back when they host East Kilbride this Saturday.
