WAYSIDERS/DRUMPELLIER face a nervy finish to the season after a weekend loss to Allan Glen’s.
Craig Collin’s men went down 22-8 to The Bearyards outfit on Saturday, their 14th reverse of the season.
W/D remain in eighth place in the table but are still uncertain of their National League Two place going into their final game of the campaign at home to Glasgow Accies.
Meanwhile, W/D’s under-15s were defeated twice in the space of five days.
Last Wednesday night, the youngsters travelled to Dumbreck to face Cartha Queen’s Park to complete their West Regional Shield campaign.
But a tired W/D crashed to a 45-12 loss with Sean Thompson’s two tries providing scant consolation.
Despite the result, the under-15s claimed second place in the table, a creditable finish in their inaugural year
Coach Paul Hughes said: “It would appear that the hectic tour schedule had left the team lifeless for this game.
“Cartha Queen’s Park capitalised on this and avenged the defeat from earlier in the season.
“To their credit, the boys never gave up and had a better second half but it was too little, too late.”
On Sunday, W/D lost 45-24 in their North Lanarkshire derby contest with Dalziel.
Hughes added: “Although we were up against a team who had played together for many years, we gave a good account of ourselves.
“We made a slow start in the first half and it’s difficult to focus when you are three tries behind.
“But we showed a bit of resilience and put in a decent performance and showed great character in the second half.”
The midi section’s S1 and S2 teams will host a Marr/Ayr Select squad this Sunday.
The under-15s are on the road and face Biggar at Hartree Mill.
