MONKLANDS WARRIORS RLFC held their annual player of the year awards recently.
And club captain Callum MacKay walked away with the main accolade after an impressive performance in 2008.
The most improved player trophy was presented to Stewart Campbell with Donald Obre picking up the top tackler trophy.
Warriors coach Les Obre is now looking ahead to 2009 and told the Advertiser they will be maintaining their link-up with top professional outfit, the Salford City Reds.
He added: “The big Murrayfield weekend is taking place next year when a full round of Super League fixtures are being played up here so rugby league will be in the spotlight.
“Salford are hoping to run another training camp and we are looking to arrange a number of matches against English opposition. It’s all systems go.”
