LINDA TURNER waltzed off with the championship trophy at Airdrie Golf Club ladies’ section’s annual prizegiving evening.
Presentation duties on the night were carried out by ladies’ captain Janice Watt and Kathleen Scott.
In the Strathclyde League, the ladies’ team performed well and finished runners-up in the Second Division.
The ladies also embarked on a number of fundraising projects during 2009, both for themselves and charity.
Among the organisations to benefit from the girls’ efforts have been the NSPCC, who received around £280; a donation of £150 was presented to St Andrew’s Hospice with £50 handed to MacMillan Cancer Care.
Now the focus is on the 2010 season and Janice is hoping the section will attract new members.
“We haven’t got that many younger girls at the moment and that is a bit of a concern,” she told the Advertiser. “We have just enjoyed a good season and it would be great to get some new members through the door at the start of next year.”
