DRUMPELLIER Golf Club notched up their second Lanarkshire League stalemate of the season at East Kilbride.
After being held to a disappointing 5-5 draw at home to current champions Kirkhill in their opening match, Drumps knew they would be off the first division pace unless they could avoid defeat.
But they held their nerve to earn another 5-5 tie, with 29-year-old Steven Rennie getting the visitors on the board as he returned to the scene of his Lanarkshire County triumph last year.
Among the other successes on the night was veteran Garry Speirs whose 5&4 win was the biggest victory margin in the contest.
The match also gave positive indications for the future with 20-year-old Stuart Bryson and teenager Alan Forsyth performing well.
Delighted team manager Brian Hillen said: “After the first week’s disappointment, it was a wonderful response from the players to get a draw away from home.”
Elsewhere, Airdrie started their division three season with a 6-4 win over Bothwell Castle but were unable to build on that success as they went down 7.5-2.5 at Carluke.
Easter Moffat travelled to Biggar but were unfortunate to be defeated 5.5-4.5.
