IRN-BRU SECOND DIVISION
ALBION ROVERS 0
A LATE goal from Michael Moore has left Albion Rovers with a play-off mountain to climb.
The Stranraer striker netted in the second minute of injury-time at Stair Park on Wednesday night to give his side breathing space for this weekend's second leg.
Defender Frank McKeown put the Blues in front in the 39th minute when he fired the ball past Derek Gaston from a Stephen Stirling delivery.
Gaston blocked from ex-Partick Thistle striker Martin Grehan in the second half with Sean Winter spurning a good opportunity. Ryan McStay and Sean Pierce failed to trouble keeper David Mitchell at the other end.
The Coatbridge outfit's best chance fell to half-time substitute Robert Love, on for Pierce, who struck the bar.
Stranraer doubled their advantage at the death when Moore pounced after Gaston failed to gather Grant Gallagher's cross.
Rovers boss Paul Martin said: "I thought the result was really harsh on us and we just have to hope things go our way on Sunday.
"Football is all about taking chances on the night and we didn't take them."
Blues gaffer Keith Knox added: "I felt we dominated the game for long periods and kept possession really well.
"We showed a great deal of patience to break Albion Rovers down but we realise that it is only half-time."
