Rovers share the spoils at Annan

Annan Athletic 1 Albion Rovers 1

CALLAN ADAM crashed home a late equalier to earn determined Rovers a point.

The Cliftonhill midfielder fired a shot high past Craig Summersgill after the Annan keeper blocked a shot from Bobby Barr.

In a keenly contested match, Annan had taken the lead through Graeme Bell before Adam rescued a share of the spoils for Paul Martin's men.

The result does neither side any favours in the race for the play-offs, though, with Rovers now six points adrift of the top four with six games remaining.

Annan had the first chance of the night in the eighth minute when Bell pounced on some uncertainty in the Rovers defence, but keeper Jamie Ewings made a fine save.

Midfielder Steven McKeown was denied by Summersgill in the 29th minute, and four minutes later, a mistake in the Rovers defence led to Annan's opener.

Martin McGoldrick missed a clearance on the edge of his box which allowed Bell to win the ball and clip a shot past an exposed Ewings.

Rovers created a couple of chances before the break. A Barr drive flew over and two minutes later, Adam did likewise from a Ewings clearance upfield.

In the 49th minute, Adam curled a free-kick just wide and although Rovers dominated much of the play, goalscoring opportunities were at a premium.

However, with two minutes left, Barr surged into the box, and after his initial effort was thwarted, he squared for Adam who unleashed a fierce strike which gave Summersgill no chance.
