IRN-BRU SECOND DIVISION:
FORFAR ATHLETIC v AIRDRIE
Station Park, 7.30pm
MARK RIDGERS has backed Airdrie to make it a clean sweep of wins over Forfar Athletic tonight.
The Diamonds head to Station Park looking for a fourth successive victory against the play-off chasing Loons.
Airdrie defeated the Angus men 3-1 on Saturday and will close the gap on fourth-placed Forfar to four points with a third win in six games.
And Ridgers hopes his side's weekend success has lifted confidence ahead of this evening's trip to the north-east.
"It was great to win again," Ridgers told Advertiser Sport. "Our first-half performance was unbelievable as we played some good football and took our chances.
"We then defended really well in the second half when they came at us and these three points will really help us.
"That’s three times we’ve beaten them now and we know we will only be four points behind them if we win tonight.
"We’re going to push on as hard as we can. Staying in the league would be good but I think anyone can get into the play-offs.
"I’m not looking below, I’m looking above. That’s what we have to do, especially now that we’ve got back to winning ways."
Meanwhile, Diamonds boss Jimmy Boyle is keeping his feet on the ground despite a revival in form which has seen his side take 11 points from the last 18 available.
The manager added: "We are still a wee bit away. We will take each game as it comes and try and get another three points when we go to Forfar for the return match.
"They will be disappointed with how things turned out at the weekend as they created a couple of good chances."
Boyle welcomes back midfielder Jamie Stevenson from a two-match ban and expects Graeme Owens to be fit despite a toe injury.
But skipper Paul Lovering is serving the second game of a three-match ban, meaning Rhys Devlin will captain the side.
