KENNY BLACK admitted it would have been a travesty had his side sneaked a winner against Livingston on Saturday.
Airdrie United grimly held on for a goalless draw at home to the Lions but produced a performance that left a lot to be desired.
Diamonds gaffer Black had watched his team create stacks of chances and play well during their 3-1 defeat to Dunfermline Athletic at New Broomfield last Tuesday night.
But he knew his team were well off the pace as they toiled against a West Lothian outfit who dominated long spells of this stalemate.
Both sides had first half goals disallowed for offside, with Airdrie’s strike their only real effort on target in the game.
“I thought we turned in a very poor display.”
It’s probably one of our worst performances at home alongside the Clyde game,” said Black.
“The two offside decisions more or less cancelled each other out but that was our only shot on target.
“If we had won it would have been a travesty.
“I felt that we played far better against Dunfermline and though we have managed to take a point here, it has been thanks to our goalkeeper once again.
“A point always looked like the best we were ever going to hope for from the game.”
Black warned his players they aren’t guaranteed an ALBA Challenge Cup Final slot against Ross County this Sunday following their struggles at home to Livi.
He added: “The cup final only comes into my thoughts now this game is over.
“If some of the players’ minds were not on this game, then they might get a surprise when the starting line-up is picked.”
