Still tight at the top of awards table

THE race to become Airdrie United player of the year is hotting up with just six points covering six stars.

Striker Paul Di Giacomo still leads the way on 15 points with Stephen Robertson one adrift.

But points picked up in the Diamonds’ 2-0 victory over Queen of the South have catapulted both Simon Lynch and Stephen McKenna into contention.

In the Albion Rovers version of the competition, Marc Pollock moved to within seven points of leader Bobby Barr after his man-of-the-match award at Forfar Athletic on Saturday.

At the end of the season, the top performer at Airdrie and Rovers will be presented with a trophy.

The awards are kindly sponsored by the Gillespie Investment Group.
