Used strip call for Airdrie fans

AIRDRIE fans have been urged to donate their old replica shirts to charity this Sunday.

Housebuilder George Wimpey wants Diamonds supporters to bring along their old strips to the launch of two new showhomes at its Victoria Gardens development, off Motherwell Street in Airdrie.

In return they’ll make a donation per shirt for the first 100 they receive to raise funds for local children’s charity Hope, which helps youngsters with autism in North Lanarkshire.

In addition, all the strips that are received at the event will be sent to charities that support communities in Africa.

A spokeswoman for George Wimpey said: “With a new strip for the club due to be launched during the summer we’re confident there will be plenty of strips that Airdrie fans will be keen to put to good use to benefit both a local charity and those in Africa too.”

Strips can be handed in on Sunday between 12 noon and 4pm.
