Who will lift our player of the year awards?

IT is the coveted award every Airdrie United and Albion Rovers player will want to win...the Advertiser player of the year title.

Sponsored by the Gillespie Investment Group, we have relaunched the competition which will see two trophies presented at the end of the season.

One accolade will go to the best Diamonds star during the current campaign with another trophy handed over to the most impressive Rovers star.

After every Airdrie and Rovers game, points will be awarded to the team’s best performers.

Each man of the match will be given three points with two further players given two points and one point respectively based on their display by our reporters at the games.

At the end of this season, the players with the most points will win the trophies.

Advertiser sports reporter, Colin Paterson, said: “We are sure that every player at New Broomfield and Cliftonhill will want to get their hands on the player of the year trophies.

“With so many good players in each team, it is going to be an exciting competition and one that every supporter will have an opinion on.”

Points will be backdated to the opening day of the season so don’t miss next week’s paper for the current standings.

And remember to keep up-to-date with your favourite player’s position every Wednesday in the Advertiser.
