Ricky Burns eyes Kevin Mitchell fight

Ricky Burns.

RICKY BURNS says he’d love a fight with Kevin 'The Dagenham Destroyer' Mitchell.

The WBO interim lightweight champion is being lined up for an outing at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow early next year.

Mitchell has called out Burns after the Kirkwood ace defeated Aussie Michael Katsidis at the Wembley Arena on Bonfire Night.

And Scotland’s No1 fighter is licking his lips at the prospect of facing Essex boy Mitchell in a tasty Scotland v England match-up.

“I think everybody has called me out, although no one was doing it before the fight,” said the 28-year-old, who should find out if he will be named outright world lightweight champ in the next couple of weeks.

“Willie Limond has been saying he’d like a crack at me and Anthony Crolla has also been mentioned.

“My pals have been telling me that Mitchell has been mouthing off on twitter these past few days.

“There are big fights out there for me but one with Kevin Mitchell is something the fans would like to see.

“He’s said he’s prepared to come to Scotland for it and it would be a guaranteed sell-out.

“Everybody knows that would be the big fight in Britain. It would be a cracker.”
