RICKY BURNS admits there is only one thing worse than a late change of opponent.
And that is being told he has no fight at all.
Coatbridge’s Commonwealth Super-Featherweight title holder was due to face Salford scrapper Steve Foster jnr on Friday, June 19.
But after Foster failed to agree financial terms last week, Belfast bruiser Kevin O’Hara was drafted in as a late replacement for the championship bout at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Leisure Centre.
Burns has now started preparing for the televised clash with the 27-year-old Ulsterman and is backing himself to finish the contest inside eight rounds.
He told the Advertiser: “This type of thing doesn’t bother me at all and it won’t affect my training as Steve and Kevin have similar styles.
“I would have been really annoyed had the whole thing been cancelled, but I am still on the card and that’s the most important thing.
“Willie Limond fought Kevin a few years ago and beat him on points, and to be honest, I think this fight will be lucky to last eight rounds.”
