DYLAN SHAW suffered semi-final agony as his British championship bid was ended by a Welsh wizard.
The Four Isles Boxing Club stalwart was representing Scotland at Swansea.
The Monklands puncher knew he could boost his chances of winning a title by defeating Jim Price in their last four clash.
Pint-sized Shaw was again giving away height and reach advantage, but that made no difference as he stood his ground.
Price proved to be a classy boxer, and tried to keep the contest a long-range one, however, Shaw was turning in a determined display. scoring with some lovely combinations to the head and body. but his terrific effort was to no avail.
The judging panel decided that Price had been just too good overall and awarded him a 16-14 points victory and the Welsh scrapper went on to win the final 14-2.
Four Isles coach, Jimmy Robertson, said: “Dylan can hold his head up high as he proved to be an excellent ambassador.”
He didn’t dwell on his disappointment for too long, though, as he secured a morale-boosting win at a show in East Kilbride.
In a bout with Connor Greeman, of Irvine Vineburgh BC, Shaw claimed victory thanks to a worthy points decision.
He is fighting again this Saturday, along with team-mate William McLaughlan, when they will take on English opposition at a tournament at the Pivot Centre in Moodiesburn.
