COATBRIDGE fight ace Ricky Burns shows off his latest belt after a comfortable win over Gheorghe Ghiompirica.
The super featherweight ruthlessly disposed of the Romanian to become the International Masters champion.
Burns peppered the journeyman throughout and won all of the ten rounds in what was an easy victory at the Thistle Hotel.
He said: “He was an awkward opponent and he just ran about all night.
“It’s always good to get the victory though. You want to win with a knockout but that’s not always possible.
“But I was relatively pleased with my performance and I think I’m getting better all the time.”
The 25-year-old, who has lost just twice in 23 professional bouts, is due to fight again in Glasgow on June 6.
He is gearing up for a crack at one of the major titles at the end of the year and believes he is in the best shape of his life.
He added: “I’m feeling really good and looking forward to the fights ahead.
“They are coming thick and fast. But that’s the way I like it.
“I’m not sure who it is but it will be a six to eight rounder. But whoever it is, I’ll be ready and raring to go.”
