IRN-BRU FIRST DIVISION:
HAMILTON ACCIES 3 AIRDRIE 0
It's now just one win in 16 games for Airdrie after they slumped to a derby-day disappointment at New Douglas Park.
Goals from Louis Longridge, Alex Neil and Jonathan Page earned Accies a comfortable victory - their second of the season over the Diamonds.
Airdrie boss Jimmy Boyle made three changes to the team that lost 4-1 at home to Falkirk on Saturday.
Grant Adam returned from compassionate leave to replace Andrew Duncan in goal. Grant Evans and John Boyle came in for Jamie Bain and Nathan Blockley.
Accies took the lead in the 15th minute when a Stevie May shot bounced off Adam's chest and fell kindly for Longridge to convert.
The home side doubled their advantage eight minutes later when Neil volleyed home from close range.
In the 36th minute, the Diamonds should have pulled a goal back but on-loan Motherwell winger Josh Watt fired wide at the back post from a Chris O'Neil cross.
Billy Reid's men wrapped up the points in the 55th minute when Jonathan Page headed home an Ali Crawford corner.
A gutted Boyle said: "The result and the performance were unacceptable.
"We changed our shape to try and be positive and put them under pressure but silly mistakes have cost us again."
When asked about the absence of centre-back Cameron MacDonald, who has not played since limping off in the 3-1 defeat to Livingston last month, the manager provided a brief answer before closing discussion on the subject.
He would only say: "A fit Cammy MacDonald in the right frame of mind would be in my team every week."
