WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP
ALBION ROVERS 1
Manager Todd Lumsden hailed his Albion Rovers side after a battling performance almost sent Morton tumbling out of the Scottish Cup.
Central midfielder Tony Stevenson put the Coatbridge outfit ahead on the stroke of half-time at Cliftonhill on Saturday.
But Peter Weatherson's fifth goal of the season rescued a replay for Ton which will take place at Cappielow on Tuesday, November 13.
Lumsden was delighted with Rovers' display as they attempted to win a domestic cup match for the first time in three years.
He said: "We're pleased with the result; they are a good First Division team and we put up a really good showing.
"It was a typical cup-tie. The goal before half-time gave us a bit of confidence and we grew in belief as the game went on."
In the sixth minute, Weatherson came close to opening the scoring for Ton when his free-kick from the edge of the box flew just wide.
Michael Tidser set up David Graham who sliced a shot past the post from close-range before Rovers broke the deadlock when Stevenson volleyed home Chris Boyle's cross.
However, the visitors levelled when a Tidser set-piece was controlled by Weatherson who fired a low drive beyond McGinley.
Poor defending by Ton in the 71st minute gave Rovers a sniff at goal but Steven Howarth's effort was blocked by ex-Cliftonhill keeper Derek Gaston.
Ton gaffer Allan Moore said: "Credit must go to Albion Rovers. We knew it would be difficult and we're pleased to still be in the cup.
"I thought Todd had them well-organised. They fought hard and had us worried for a lot of the game."
