Ryan’s on right track to raise Rangers’ profile in Superleague

RYAN DALZIEL will line up for Rangers this weekend in the opening round of the inaugural Superleague Formula Championship.

The 26-year-old Airdrie racing ace was confirmed as the club’s official driver recently for the six-round series which kicks-off at England’s Donnington Park track.

Dalziel will pit his wits on the grid against talented drivers representing the likes of AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham Hotspur.

The competition aims to fuse the passion of football with the thrill and excitement of top-flight motor racing.

Dalziel had been competing in the Grand-AM Rolex Sports Car Series in the United States but his SAMAX Motorsport team encountered problems last month.

He said: “I am absolutely de lighted to have been selected to represent Rangers in the Superleague Formula.

“This is a great new series and one that both football and race fans can really get behind.

“I’m obviously thrilled to be driving for Rangers having grown up in and around Glasgow.

“Coincidentally, my race helmet’s colours are almost identical to those of Rangers so in many ways, it is a perfect fit.

“I am just excited to be a Scottish driver racing for a Scottish club, it means a lot, and I hope the fans really get behind our efforts, starting at Donnington Park.”
